Decorating a small bathroom may seem like a challenge, but it’s often easier to deal with small bathroom decorations than it is to deal with large bathroom ones since there is a lot of empty space to fill. Sometimes we want to go all out and buy all the bathroom accessories we can find online, but it’s not always the best solution.
Read our expert tips on how you can use all that extra bathroom space to your advantage to personalize your bathroom.
LARGE BATHROOM DECORATION
If you prefer to keep it simple in you large bathroom, color blocking with neutral colors if the way to go. As you see in the first picture, the focus is on using the horizontal space rather than the vertical space, like in small bathrooms. The goal with large bathroom decoration is to fill up the bathroom space with style. If you throw in too many accessories in your large bathroom, you will just clutter the room. The picture on the left is simple with just the right amount of bathroom accessories. The large circular mirror takes a lot of wall space and frames the whole sink picture perfectly. The shower on the right is horizontally designed, rather than vertically. As you can see, it takes up a whole wall, but doesn’t have a loft of shower accessories. That’s the secret to large bathroom decoration – knowing how to properly deal with the space given to you.
Another very simplistic bathroom decoration that inspires class and elegancy. Keeping neutral colors in a large bathroom makes the space look more relaxed, rather than overwhelming. If you add too many colors to large bathroom, it can become too hard on the eyes. The bathroom is supposed to be a space of relaxation, beauty and purity, therefore keeping the color palette neutral will help a lot. Again in this picture, the shower area is horizontally developed rather than vertically. This allows to fill up the bathroom space more efficiently. A great bathroom decoration to add to your large bathroom is a wooden carpet. You can add it around the toilet or line it towards the shower to fill up empty floor space and play around with color block.
Going horizontal with bathroom decoration doesn’t mean that you can’t mix ‘n match with vertical layouts as well. As seen in the picture above, there’s a mixture between a vertically designed shower and a large, horizontally designed bath tub right next to it. Both together take up the whole wall, which is perfect in filling up the empty floor (and wall) space. Of course, it’s always a great idea to add a single sofa, large bean bag or chair in your large bathroom, so a guest can sit and talk with you while you’re taking a bubble’s bath or putting on makeup. The wall design in the background is also a great way to make the bathroom more alive, as it adds colors and shapes to the area.
Remember how we mentioned that adding too much color isn’t the brightest (pun intended) of ideas for large bathrooms? Well, this is an exception to the rule. As you can see, the bathroom in the picture is large overall, but small at the sink area and short in height. Adding a bright color to the ceiling will make the bathroom seem larger in height. Since the sink area is also more restrained than the rest of the bathroom, adding color to the sink decorations will help enlarge the area.
The best way to decorate your large bathroom is to fill up the empty space, remember that. You don’t need a lot of bathroom decorations – just the right amount in large proportions.
